‘Return to Kilbreda’ Day
On Saturday 26 October, Kilbreda College, Mentone celebrated a memorable ‘Return to Kilbreda Day’ as part of our 120th anniversary. Bathed in glorious sunshine, we welcomed over 300 past pupils back to the halls where lifelong friendships were formed, lessons were learned, and cherished memories were made. Seeing our alumnae reconnect with each other, share stories with current students, and celebrate Kilbreda’s vibrant and enduring spirit was heartwarming.
We were deeply honoured by the presence of the Sisters of St. Brigid, a living reminder of the unwavering faith, determination and welcoming sisterhood that has been at Kilbreda’s core since its founding in 1904. As T.S. Elliot so eloquently wrote, “What life have you if you have not life together? There is no life that is not in community.” Kilbreda’s legacy is one of community—a story shaped by generations of strong, compassionate, and courageous women.
Our Year 11 music students captured this spirit beautifully in their commemorative song:
“In our school, we find our way
Guided by the values that light our day.
Courage, compassion, hope we hold,
Strength and Kindliness, stories told.”
To our remarkable alumnae—you are forever part of Kilbreda’s story, and we could not be prouder of the impact you continue to make. Through your careers, families, communities, and acts of service, you bring Kilbreda’s values of strength and kindliness to life every day. Your journeys are woven into ours. Together, we carry forward a legacy of positive change, responding wherever possible to be agents of transformation in the world.
Thank you to our Past Pupils Network for fostering these invaluable connections across generations. This day celebrated not only our shared history but the timeless spirit that lives on in each of us—together, as one community.
