Year 12
It is amazing to think that today as I walked through the Atrium the countdown for classes announced 21 school days to go. It seems like only a short time ago we were having photos taken on the first day back. The last few weeks of this term will be busy with the final SACs for each subject being completed and folios being finalised. Whilst this is a busy time, remember to take some time out for relaxation to enable you to keep your energy levels up. We look forward to finishing the term with Brigidine Day which gives us an opportunity to gather together as a whole school to celebrate our heritage and raise funds for the Brigidine Asylum Seekers Project.
During the second week of the Term 3 break the students will sit their practice exams. These should be seen as an opportunity for them to familiarise themselves with the style of exam and ensure they are adequately prepared for the VCAA exams which begin in less than a month. Many of these exams will be marked by experience VCAA assessors and as such students should prepare for them thoroughly as the feedback will enable them to establish what they need to revise.
Guest Speaker: Sonya Karras
During our most recent pastoral period, the Year 11 and 12 cohorts had the privilege of attending a presentation by the wonderful speaker Sonya Karras, who spoke about understanding the risks associated with drinking. Sonya maintained a casual and relatable tone as she discussed the best ways to drink safely and the consequences of alcohol consumption.
We explored how to understand standard drinks in alcohol and learned about various laws, including the amusing fact that there’s a fine for drunk riding a cow! We’d like to extend our thanks to Sonya for her insightful presentation. She managed to blend humour with valuable information, making the session both enjoyable and educational. Her engaging stories created a comfortable atmosphere, as she interacted with us like a peer, sharing personal experiences that resonated with everyone in the auditorium.
