Year 11
The Year 11 corridor was abuzz with chatter as we commenced the beginning of the new school year and the start of the students Senior schooling. The theme of Hospitality was evident as they embraced new students and their new class groupings. In our first assembly we spoke of dreaming big and the importance of taking chances and remembering that things worth doing seldom come easy. I spoke of how by being a united group we can achieve great things. We created a puzzle where each of us had a piece which on its own did not make sense but by piecing it together we created something wonderful.
This week in our Pastoral lesson we gathered with the Year 12s to hear from past students about what they are doing and how to achieve success in the Senior years.

We heard from:
- Madi, who is entering her third year at university studying Nutrition. She spoke about how being involved at school and stepping out of her comfort zone by trying new things empowered her to overcome challenges both at school and when starting university.
- Erin, who this year embarks on a trip to Ireland to play county cricket. Erin has spent two years studying paramedicine. She spoke of following your passion and identifying your strengths and talents to enable you to succeed.
- Caitlin, who has landed her dream job of working full time at Dom Bosco Camp. Caitlin discussed how at times she felt like school was not for her but by being focused and believing in herself as able to successfully complete her VCE.
- Gabby, who spoke of the importance of having a goal in mind as it gives you that end goal to focus on when things get tough so you can continue to put in your best effort; whether it’s getting into your dream university course, TAFE, travelling in a gap year or anything else that you aspire to do.
- Nyrie told us that while having a study schedule and planning for classes was important, you had to balance it out with having fun. Embracing the opportunities that are offered, attending the Swimming and Athletics Carnivals, dancing at Brigidine Day or just having a chat in the hallway.
The key message from all these inspiring leaders of the future was to make the most of the last years at school and to create great memories.
I look forward to a most successful year. I am sure that if the students embrace every learning opportunity, then they too will have as successful and engaging year.
