Year 11
College Leadership 2025
The journey for our aspiring school leaders continues. Applicants for College Captain have completed their presentation to the year level and have since been shortlisted and interviewed for the position. All of the applicants are to be congratulated on their contribution throughout their years at Kilbreda. Now for the big wait to find out on Brigidine Day!
Currently students are applying for the portfolio positions of Living Justice, Community Action, Environmental Action, Health and Wellbeing, SRC and House Captains. Part of this application process involves an interview panel consisting of Year 9 and Year 10 students. Well done to those applying and how well you handled the nerves in front of an unfamiliar audience.
On Tuesday morning, the Year 11 and 12 students had the privilege of attending a presentation by guest speaker, Sonya Karras. Sonya is an esteemed author, speaker, and television and radio host. Drawing from her extensive experience as a youth educator, Sonya delivered an exceptional talk on the critical topic of safe partying and drinking alcohol. Her authentic and relatable approach deeply resonated with many of us, leaving a lasting impact.
Through personal anecdotes and practical advice, Sonya provided valuable insights on how to avoid dangerous situations whilst socialising and what steps to take if one finds themselves in such circumstances. She educated us on the legal aspects of alcohol consumption, the effects of alcohol on the body, and how to assess the safety of a situation.
On behalf of the entire year level, I would like to express our immense gratitude for the incredible presentation Sonya delivered. We further extend our thanks to the teachers and staff for their efforts in organising this session.
