Year 11

During the last two years of senior school we see the consolidation of friendship groups, but also the formation of the year level as a whole. Activities such as line dancing, Zumba and meditation are not only good for student’s physical health, but enhance a sense of connection, albeit in a different environment.

This week, the Year 11 students engaged in an interclass Matball competition. Matball is a Kilbreda institution. Success doesn’t rely upon only the skilled players, but in the ability of the class as a whole to successfully engage each member in some way. You can’t win until you have ALL the team on the mat, or in this case, within the goal circle.

Over the years, the Year 11 students would have had many an opportunity to refine their game. On Tuesday, they brought their “A” game and it was “game on”.  Room 59 were victorious.

Last Thursday, Room 2 hosted the second of our Homeroom assemblies. This gives the Class Captains and their room the opportunity to present important information to the year level as well as celebrate the achievements of its members. Finishing off with a Disney Princess Kahoot was a popular way to conclude.

Looking forward, exams are only a couple of weeks away. Now is the time to organise class notes, revise content and highlight areas of concern where students may not feel as confident. Having a suitable space that is conducive to study is important. Quiet, distraction free areas are helpful in familiarising students with an ‘exam like’ atmosphere. Students are also encouraged to make the most of the opportunity to speak with teachers in the Library after school or contact them via email should they need clarification on any content.

Student Reflection

Mat Ball

During last week’s pastoral period, the Year 11 students all participated in a Mat Ball tournament. Everyone seemed very excited to get involved and it was so good to see everyone giving it a go. All Homerooms played well but it was Homeroom 59 that came out victorious. It was a testament to our strong teamwork and sportsmanship as our team showcased their skills in each game, with every match filled with excitement and determination. Big shout out to Ms Brooks for playing in no shoes and helping our Homeroom to the win! Throughout the tournament there were plenty of highlights from everyone and, of course, loads of laughter to. Everyone should be proud for their involvement and their efforts!
