Year 10

This year, the Year 10 students will be involved in Futures Week during the last week of Term 2 – Monday 24 June to Friday 28 June. This week is designed to assist students in their subject selection process, career planning, personal development and exploring areas of interest for future pathways.

Students and parents will receive the outline of the program, as well as PAM permissions for Futures Week over the coming days/weeks. Students have been assigned tours and activities they are to engage in. This week is designed to give students an opportunity to begin thinking about their futures. We encourage them to continue this discovery and research into the holidays by engaging in additional tours and activities in their own time.

Below is a brief outline of the program:

Monday – Reflection Day

Students will engage in a program that aims at promoting the need for, and purpose of, social justice while building on connections with other religions and their own spirituality. There is more that connects us than divides us and want to ensure our young people enter the world as informed, kind and strong global citizens.

Tuesday – Tertiary Visits and Tours (offsite)

Students are assigned groups for the day and will visit three tertiary institutions via bus. The universities and TAFEs have planned for our Year 10 students to be provided with an amazing opportunity to explore how the institutions are structured, the variety of courses on offer and ways they can immerse themselves in life outside of institution. Students are expected to wear their full Academic Winter Uniform.

Wednesday and Thursday – Alternating between Mock Job Interviews (onsite) and City Experience (offsite)

City experience – Students will engage in a range of activities that are designed to provide them with a ‘taste’ of what a career in different fields can encompass. These activities are designed to be interactive, engaging and develop our students’ understanding of what is required when thinking about their future pathways. Students are expected to be in PE Unform for this day.

Mock Job Interviews – Students are to wear professional dress on this day. Students will participate in a structured program that will be delivered by an external provider, which will provide students the opportunity to engage in a mock job interview. This day will include a formal, thirty minute interview, reflection with the interviewer as well as other reflection tasks that enable students to develop the inter and intrapersonal skills necessary for them entering the world as informed and confident citizens.

Friday – VCE and VCE-VM Subject Taster Day

Students will engage in a variety of workshops run by staff that allow them to explore the requirements and expectations of VCE/VET/VCE VM subjects and to develop an understanding of their individual pathway to make an informed decision moving forward. Students are expected to wear full Academic Winter Uniform.
