Wellbeing and Engagement
Our College motto, Fortiter et Suaviter, has been a defining feature of life at our College across the course of Term 3. As the term has been unfolding, I have noticed the genuine care and connection that our students feel towards each other and their school. Time and time again our students express deep gratitude for the opportunity to participate in and contribute to school life and the quality learning experiences with which they are provided. I commend all students for consistently embodying the Kilbreda spirit and for their efforts to foster a school culture that enables one another to flourish.
Leadership is a Journey
At Kilbreda our Student Leadership Program holds immense value and provides students with the opportunity to find their voices, enabling them to express their opinions, concerns and aspirations. This week, our Year 11 students embarked on the process of selecting the 2025 Student Leadership Team. During their assembly, our Year 11 students listened to members of our community share their insights on leadership, the call to serve and the deeply held values of Strength and Kindliness that inspire us, as Kilbreda people on our leadership journey.
Thank you to Year 7 student, Mia Dobrohotoff, Year 9 student, Pratima Thomas and our College Co-Captains, Lola Martin and Alicia Noble, for their thought-provoking presentations. Thank you also to Ms Grima and Ms Moloney who were instrumental in the launch.
Wellbeing Activity: Mini-Olympics
On 26 July we marked the start of the Olympics with a selection of mini activities. As students entered the school, they were able to participate in these events and test their skills with bean bag throwing, soccer, hoops and many more. Led by our House Leaders and ably assisted by our Student Leaders, many students tried their luck and were rewarded with a chocolate treat. St Brigid was declared the overall winner as a role model for the Olympic values of excellence, respect and friendship as well as an advocate for Kilbreda values and our motto – strength and kindliness.
Cards for Children in Hospital
Last week, the Community Action Leadership team hosted sessions dedicated to crafting cards for children in hospitals. The room was alive with an enthusiastic buzz and smiling faces. Each student designed cards with a heartfelt personal touch with the understanding that these small gestures could make a significant difference in someone’s day.
The sessions served as a prominent reminder of the profound impact of compassion. It was truly inspiring to witness students coming together with such enthusiasm, collaborating and exchanging ideas, all with the aim of bringing joy to others. The experience also highlighted the strength and unity of our College spirit. Observing everyone working together with a shared purpose underscored the impactful outcomes of collective effort.
The students’ dedication stood a powerful testament to how even small acts of kindness can create substantial change. Their self-expression and creative flair were transformed into lasting sources of hope, demonstrating the enduring impact of seemingly small yet meaningful actions.

Focus on Child Safety
As part of our compliance, the College will survey students every 6 months with questions related to safety to ensure we are vigilant in identifying and addressing any areas of concern.
Child Safe Standard 2: Child safety and wellbeing is embedded in leadership, governance, and culture. As part of our compliance, we will survey the students every 6 months with questions related to safety to ensure we are vigilant in identifying and addressing any areas of concern. In homerooms last week, time was allocated to the safety survey. There were 7 questions seeking feedback on safety of the school grounds, activities, protocols, and procedures, anti-bullying initiatives, and other initiatives. We will review the feedback and respond and act with the view of continuous improvement.
Reminders: please use PAM to alert the school when your child needs to leave the school during the school day eg for appointments and if your child arrives late to school.
