Enrichment Day Experience

As part of a recent Enrichment Day experience, our Year 11 Vocational Major class participated in an exciting excursion to Limo’s Meze Bar Grill restaurant in Parkdale. We were given the unique opportunity to explore and cook dishes from different cultures. Under the guidance of our teacher and chef Chris, we learned not only how to prepare these diverse meals, but also about the rich traditions and cultural significance behind each dish. It was a fun experience that broadened our understanding of cooking and brought us closer as a class through the shared joy of cooking and eating the food we made together. Overall, our class loved this experience. We were all made to feel welcome by Chris and learned more about working in a commercial kitchen.

VCE VM SHOWCASE 1

On 3 September our VCE VM class completed the long-anticipated ILearn ILead presentations. We brought along our favourite people, from grandparents to friends, to support us on our special night. Ever since Year 11, our supportive Projects teacher, Ms Gamble, ensured we were well-prepared and ready to shine at this big event. Many of us were nervous, but with the care and guidance of our wonderful peers during practice, we felt less worried. On the evening, we walked into the Meeting Room with nerves jangling. We anxiously chattered to our peers. We got through it, and many of us ended leaving the night having enjoyed the experience. The topics we presented included Passion for Fashion, Sport, Ikigai, Concerts, Vet Nursing, Commercial Cookery, Aphasia and the Police Force.

As the night drew to a close, many of us found ourselves talking and laughing with our families in the car on the ride home about how nervous we had been. The first thing we heard as we walked into class the next day was chatter like, “That really wasn’t that bad” and “Oh, I actually didn’t mind that.”

I would like to acknowledge the following other students for their bravery and professionalism on the Showcase evening: Jessica Dooley, Elenor Burke, Taylor Cramer, Elle McSwiney, Bianca Terry, Elizabeth Harris, Giselle D’Souza, Ella Bracchi, and Agen Vernall.

VCE VM SHOWCASE 2

On 9 September, the VCE VM students in our class gathered together to present their ILearn ILead projects to the school community. There were definitely some nerves in the room as we reviewed our individual projects. Also, we delivered speeches about our future endeavours and ambitions. There was a variety of topics covered which included Women in Sport, Importance of Community, Mental Health Strategies, Dance and the History of Bakers Delight. Each student presented with confidence and enthusiasm. Congratulations to the following students: Evie Barnes, Alyssa Sheedy, Eva Lagana, Grace Frangos, Kayla O’Brien, Stella Mackay, Scarlett Kitts, Sienna Gillon, Starlett McCann, Caitlin Fergus and Mollie Hewitson.
