Orchestra and Band Program Trial

Throughout Term 4, two Year 7 Music classes have been participating in a trial ensemble program, where each student is provided a string or wind instrument to learn as a part of a class group. Instruments that students have had the opportunity to learn the basics of include the violin, viola, cello, flute, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, trombone and snare drum. Students have mastered how to play a number of notes and simple songs, as well as learned how to work together as an ensemble. Next year, this program will be offered to Year 7 students for a full semester. Congratulations to the students for their willingness to try a new skill and a huge thank you to the staff who have made this idea become a reality, Mrs Wanda Elton, Mrs Keryn Holden, Ms Sarah Bloomer and Mr Dominic Schepis.

Student Reflection

In music we have been learning how to hold the violin, viola and cello and how to use the bow. We are having so much fun being in groups and learning from each other. We can’t wait to play music together.
