Hope: Bringing a Sense of Purpose

It has been wonderful to witness students and teachers engaged in learning that connects to real world issues in our community. The STEM MAD teams are continuing to develop their ideas for the Victorian Showcase later in the year. After the success of the 2023 teams, students are looking to build on their learnings and develop new ideas to support those who are vulnerable in our society. Their projects are required to address a need in society and demonstrate how they would address this through the lens of Catholic stewardship, solidarity, common good, citizenship, humanity and wellbeing.

Year 8 students participated in a two-day Social Justice Workshop as part of Triple-E Week. Kilbreda students demonstrate a real passion to see others experience a life that is fulfilling, and in doing so are working towards a future that provides hope for others and a real sense of purpose to their lives. Some of the social justice initiatives that were generated and proposed last week include:

  • The creation of a range of band-aids that display positive messaging to encourage young people to have a positive sense of self, with a percentage of the sales price supporting Kids Helpline
  • The creation of a website that provides quick and easy access to free support services that provide for the basic needs of all peoples.
