Learning and Teaching

The Kilbreda Festival was a wonderful opportunity for students to not only demonstrate their talents, but to also develop resilience. Garnering the courage to perform in front of your peers in a competitive environment takes courage and tenacity. Usually the reflection of a night such as this would focus on the talent that was on display, but in this article I would like to focus on something different, this reflection is about those who were privileged to watch the performances…the audience.

Each lunch time for the past couple of weeks numerous students have graced the stage and the Auditorium has been filled with their peers who were all there to support their friends. Each performance received thunderous applause and at the end of each session performers were swamped with expressions of congratulations.

We all need support from others and the input of ‘champions’ in our life and we need to learn how to also be a champion for others. Kilbreda College is full of champions who, through their actions and words bring a sense of hope to their community. What a privilege to experience this hope each day.
