2025 Kilbreda College Musical reveal

Preparations for next years musical are in full ‘swing’ as the Performing Arts faculty have been reading scripts to find a show that will provide maximum opportunities for our talented cohort.  In the meantime we have enjoyed teasing the students with our ‘window of shows’ and notices in the bulletin:

What show are we going to do in 2025??

Could it be Mean Girls? Could it be Oklahoma or Wicked?

Come every lunchtime to the front of the Performing Arts Office, where we will pull one show off a day!

After much negotiation, the rights to our 2025 show were approved and we announced the title to the school on Wednesday 4 September at lunchtime in a packed auditorium.

We are so excited to announce that our 2025 Production will be the much-loved Broadway classic, 42nd Street.

About the show

Come along and listen to the lullaby of Broadway!

42nd Street celebrates Broadway, Times Square and the magic of show biz with wit, humour and pizzazz. At the height of the Great Depression, aspiring chorus girl Peggy Sawyer comes to the big city from Allentown, Pennsylvania, and soon lands her first big job in the ensemble of a glitzy new Broadway show. But just before opening night, the leading lady breaks her ankle. Will Peggy be able to step in and become a star? The score is chock-full of Broadway standards, including “You’re Getting To Be A Habit With Me,” “Dames,” “We’re In the Money,” “Lullaby of Broadway,” “Shuffle Off to Buffalo” and “Forty-Second Street.”

Audition Information

This is Kilbreda’s bi-annual ‘whole school musical’ which means all year levels in 2025 are allowed to participate onstage. Senior students from Kilbreda will be allowed to apply for internship roles which will be advertised on Simon. Auditions and casting for 42nd Street will take place in 2024 for Years 8-11. Auditions for Year 7s will happen in Term 1 2025. We will take applications for internships from Year 9 to 11 students in 2024. Backstage crew applications will also be advertised shortly.

Please keep an eye out for information about audition and our Parent Information session where we will provide information about the process and expectations.
