Recently, a number of students from the College were among many local students from surrounding schools participating in a Model United Nations Conference at McKinnon Secondary College. On the day, nations represented included Madagascar, Italy, China, South Korea and Ukraine. The conference was open for students from Years 9 to 12, who had attended preparation sessions for the month prior. The two Kilbreda teams represented Italy and Madagascar and spoke with great knowledge and displayed thorough preparation and enthusiasm in all of their interactions. They debated, voted and eventually passed a resolution on the topic of ‘Zero Hunger’. Students reflections included , ‘Whilst it was difficult to come up with responses on the spot, it was a good opportunity to improve our research, communication and speaking skills’ and ‘Every one of us thoroughly enjoyed the experience and gained an insight into how the real UN conferences take place’.
