Year 12 Retreat
Spending time at Rutherford Park for our Year 12 Retreat was an experience we won’t forget. It was the perfect opportunity to pause, reflect on how the year has begun, and plan for the journey ahead. Surrounded by nature and good company, we found ourselves in a space that encouraged both personal and collective growth. The camp was so much fun, we were able to strengthen our connections not just within the year level but with staff as well, sharing stories and laughter that none of us will forget.
Throughout the Retreat, we engaged in seminars that explored our core values – Compassion, Hope, Wonder, Hospitality, Courage and Social Justice. Each session challenged us to think deeply about how these values shape not only our final year of school but also the kind of people we aspire to be beyond the classroom. Discussions were open and honest, with everyone sharing their thoughts and experiences. It was really nice to be able to form deeper, more meaningful conversations outside of the classroom!
Beyond the structured sessions, there were plenty of lighter moments – laughing with friends, enjoying the beautiful scenery, and simply appreciating the chance to step away from the usual school routine. The highlight for me, however, was the Mass. It was a beautiful and peaceful way to bring everything together, reminding us of the importance of faith, gratitude and community. I know another highlight for me and many of my peers was the morning 6.00am walk up to the top of the neighbouring hill. Although it was so steep, and I was unbelievably puffed out, it was so beautiful and worth it once we were at the top. It really did put everything into perspective as well as the role of what we had just been learning – the importance of Wonder.
By the time we left Rutherford Park, I felt more grounded and ready to take on the challenges of Year 12. The Retreat wasn’t just about looking back, it was about moving forward with purpose, embracing our values, and making the most of the year ahead. We are so beyond grateful for this three-day break, we were able to recharge and really reflect. So thank you so much to all the amazing teachers and staff who were able to make this happen, we are so appreciative of this fun Year 12 Retreat!
