Principal's Welcome Button  -  Year 7

Starting at Kilbreda I felt very excited and a little bit nervous. It was a big change from primary school, the school was bigger and there were many more students, but everyone very friendly and welcoming. It didn’t take too long before I was able to find my way around! The moment you get lost in the maze of buildings means you are a true Kilbreda girl! It has been great meeting new people and making new friends, and hopefully some of them will be in my class next year!

There are so many opportunities to get involved in different things at Kilbreda, such as sports teams, maths and science competitions, school performances, band and many more.

Some of my highlights this year have been:

  • • WOT Opera – Where you get to write and perform an opera
  • • Music Camp at Phillip Island
  • • Year 7 Zoo excursion
  • • Luna Park to celebrate Brigidine Day

Upon starting at Kilbreda, we were introduced to many new subjects, of which my favourites were textiles, drama and science. The teachers were all friendly and helpful, encouraging each of us to work to our full ability. I feel that I have been challenged to take ownership of my own learning.

Music camp was a wonderful experience. In early term 3 we travelled to Phillip Island for intensive sessional and group rehearsals. We practised very hard during the days and could really see how much we improved over the time. We had session of playing as a band out in the garden. The beautiful beach walks and movie nights helped to break up the hard work with fun.

Another highlight was when the year 10s worked with us in various activities throughout the year, becoming our ‘Big Sisters’. My favourite activity was making paper poppies, which were then hung in the atrium to celebrate Anzac day. We enjoyed our Big Sister Little Sister Dinner and catching up on many other occasions My first year at Kilbreda was amazing, with lots of great moments I will never forget. I will miss my homeroom from 2015 but am looking forward to the challenges that year 8 will bring.
