Kilbreda College a Kildare Education Ministries School in the Brigidine Tradition

Caoimhe Conlon  -  College Captain - 2013

At Kilbreda College, we were inspired to push ourselves to reach for the stars. After graduating I continued the passion for philanthropy that was encouraged during my 6 years of secondary education, and the social justice programs I participated in. The wonderful outreach programs and the opportunities that I was granted, including being the 2013 College Captain, gave me the drive to take every opportunity that has come my way.

In 2015, I was a recipient of an international scholarship supported by Monash University. This gave me the opportunity to spend a semester of my degree, studying and gaining cultural experiences in France.

I am currently completing my third year of a double degree in Arts and Science at Monash University. I volunteer as a tutor with Embrace Education, teaching disadvantaged youth of immigrant and refugee backgrounds. Over the last two years I have been lucky enough to teach in rural schools in both Indonesia and East Timor. During my time in Indonesia, the group of young Australian volunteers I was with stayed in the orphanage helping with homework and playing games with the students in the evenings. We spent our days at the school assisting with lessons, where our English proficiency was of great help to the teachers and children alike! I look forward to returning to East Timor this year for a month to teach in a youth ministry in Dili.

I will always cherish these experiences that have shaped me into the person I am today. My goal is to pursue a career as a Clinical Child Psychologist while continuing to carry on the important lessons of social justice I have been fortunate to learn as a Kilbreda girl.
